Wario Land: Shake It

Come listen to designer Daniel Brown and developer Josh Barber discuss the production challenges of LivePositively.com. a site that highlights Coca-Cola’s contributions to many community, education, health and environmental programs. Using a collage of imagery and technology, the interface presents a seamless, horizontal world that encourages the user to see where they can go.

Speakers

Daniel Brown has been a graphic designer for 8 years. He is currently a Senior Designer at Moxie Interactive. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Journalism/Mass Communications. Before Moxie, Daniel worked at Macquarium Intelligent Communications for 5 years where he gained experience not only in design but also in project management and strategic architecture. He specializes in Photoshop, Flash and vector-based programs.

Josh Barber is a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta’s Interactive Media Program and is currently working as a Rich Media Architect at Moxie Interactive. He is also a mentor to junior team members teaching them to harness the full power and potential of some of the industry’s leading technologies like Flash, Flex, and JavaScript.

Coca-Cola & Moxie Interactive Get Positive Review

Atlanta’s own Coca-Cola & Moxie Interactive teamed up to create a stunning piece of work that utilizes Flash, Photoshop, and Flex. The result is called LivePositively.com which consists of a sunny interactive environment that encourages health, education, community, recycling and environmental awareness. The site has already been named Site
of the Day by Adobe.

BBH: Simplicity at it’s best

With a hint of 3-D and a little animation, BBH uses a clean and simple interface to showcase their work. The interface is mostly black and white while work examples and news items use colorful imagery.

Dosa scratches beneath the surface

I’m not sure what Apparatus Atlanta is all about yet, but if calligraphy-inspired collage illustrations by Dosa Kim are included you can sign me up. Kim, a Cut & Paste 2007 Finalist, has recently moved from something of a geometric cartoon style to a more organic (albeit slightly more rugged) calligraphic illustration style. For a free taste, download the two wallpaper files from the “FREE GOODS” section - look closely and you might see some locals you recognize.

Desktop wallpapers can serve as an excellent source of inspiration. However, if you use some specific wallpaper for a long period of time, it becomes harder to draw inspiration out of it. That’s why Smashing Design has decided to supply you with smashing wallpapers over 12 months.

And to make them a little bit more distinctive from the usual crowd, They’ve decided to embed calendars for the upcoming month. So if you need to look up some date, isn’t it better to show off a nice wallpaper with a nice calendar instead of launching some default time application?
